Thame Utd 2, Yeading 1
Thame's amazing start to their Ryman Division 1 campaign continued as they made it ten consecutive wins with Saturday's victory over Yeading.
Thame remain five points clear at the top of the table, although Yeading made them work hard and were perhaps a little unfortunate not to gain a share of the points.
The early stages of the game were evenly contested, with visitors keeper Jim Ballatyne saving well from Martin Brown and opposite number Ian Moores denying Dwane Lee.
Thame broke the deadlock in the 26th minute when a slick four-man move gave Chris Fontaine a shooting chance. Ballantyne saved again, but then spilled the ball and Wayne Cort was first to react and slot the ball home.
Yeading's Matt Edwards headed home after the break, only to see his effort ruled out for offside. The visitors were enjoying a good spell and Edwards again forced a save from Moores. From the resulting corner Yeading equalised, Bartholomew heading home from close range.
Thame pressed hard for the winner, with Fontaine and Potter forcing great saves from Bannatyne.
With two minutes remaining, United made the breakthrough. Substitute Jefferson Louis outpaced his marker and delivered a great cross which was met by the head of West. Bannatyne produced a tremendous parry, but Mark Jones was on hand to poke home the loose ball from close range.
Deep into injury time, skipper Brown denied Yeading a dramatic equaliser when he headed Edwards's goalbound effort off the line.
