Oxford United hope to have former Arsenal defender Andy Linighan marshalling their side against Luton Town at the Manor tomorrow.
Linighan, 38, was involved in talks with United adviser Denis Smith at the weekend.
Oxford desperately need an experienced player to organise the defence, and north-easterner Linighan, who has made around 600 appearances for Hartlepool, Leeds, Oldham, Norwich, Arsenal and Crystal Palace, fits the bill.
