Oxford Hawks Ladies were disappointed with their 1-1 against Henley in Trysports 3 Counties League Division 1.

Hawks started superbly, going ahead when Clare Halligan's shot hit the post and Sarah Dawson followed up to score.

Henley equalised from a penalty corner just before half-time.

The second half saw Henley soak up a torrent of attacks from Hawks but they managed to survive.

Also in the top division, West Witney 2nd beat City of Oxford 1-0 in their first fixture on their new home ground at Henry Box School.

City managed a number of shots on goal but Witney grabbed their winner with 15 minutes left from a quickly-taken 16-yard hit by sweeper Penny Demczak. Katie Frost attacked down the right and crossed for midfielder Sue Gilmore to score. Abingdon were beaten 2-1 at Wokingham in Division 2. After an even first half in which Abingdon keeper Kelly Chung made some outstanding saves, Wokingham came out hard and scored two goals within the first few minutes after the break.

Abingdon battled back and after a goalkeeping error, Abby Fletcher blasted in a shot to lift the team's spirits.

Abingdon then piled on the pressure and forced Wokingham to defend in numbers but, despite this onslaught, the home side held out.

Rover Oxford 2nd enjoyed a comfortable 7-1 home win against Henley 2nd in Division 2.

Anne Spindler, Sue Laker and Clare Dunn each scored twice, with Ali Dowler adding the seventh.

A Lynn Fathers double strike was not enough to save Pilgrims from going down 3-2 to Reading 3rd in a hard-fought Division 3 game.

All the goals came in the first half and, although Pilgrims changed formation and dominated after the break, they couldn't find the net.
