Thame last night recorded their eleventh straight victory and extended their lead at the top of Ryman League Division 1 to seven points.
However, it was far from plain sailing for Thame as a spirited Ford side put them under extreme pressure. But for some wayward finishing from leading scorer Leli Bajeda, the home side could have ended the run.
Ford were well on top, and it was no surprise when they went ahead in the 30th minute, Andy Aransibia powering home at the near post from Danny Benstock's free kick.
This setback fired the visitors into action and three minutes later they were level.
Nando Perna was upended on the edge of the box and Justin Lee rifled the resulting free kick past the motionless Jimmy Chapman in the home goal.
Perna and Lee then combined in the 42nd minute to present Mark West with his 15th league goal of the season. The striker stabbed home from close range to give Thame the interval lead. Goalkeeper Ian Moores was forced to make a smart save in the opening minute of the second half after Mark Jones had handled. Scott Holding's freekick was heading for the bottom corner but Moores was equal to the effort.
A minute later, Thame extended their lead as Lee's well-flighted free kick was headed home at the far post by Justin Merritt for his first goal for the club since his summer move from Witney Town.
The home side were now on the back foot, and with United now well in control, the 'Motormen' never looked capable of breaking down a well-drilled Thame rearguard.
