A sporting new look for Saab's 9-3 Aero sets the tone for a series of performance enhancements across the latest 9-3 and 9-5 model ranges. The 205 horsepower sporting flagship is given new styling treatment first seen last year on the 9-3 Viggen limited edition model.

The new look also extends to the interior with the introduction of unique, two-tone leather sports seating and trim.

In addition, a new 150 horsepower 2.0-litre light pressure turbo engine, delivering ten per cent more torque, a wider power band and improved fuel consumption, is introduced across the 9-3 range. All 'SE' variants also feature sports bodystyling additions and larger alloy wheels.

The Saab 9-5 range is strengthened with the introduction of a more powerful, 185 horsepower, 2.3-litre light pressure engine, giving almost ten per cent more power and five per cent better fuel economy. Elsewhere in the range, a series of specification improvements include the adoption of a new interior air filter using carbon pellets with a total surface area equivalent to 70 football pitches.

Despite the improvements, recommended retail prices are unchanged. In real terms, Saab says its prices are now up to 14 per cent lower than 12 months ago.

The Saab 9-3 Aero, still priced from 26,250, is upgraded inside and out. It is distinguished by sleek, integrated front and rear bumper styling treatments, contoured side sills and a colour-keyed rear spoiler. The eye-catching additions are perfectly complemented gloss finish, 17-inch alloy wheels.
