Abingdon bowed out of the Ryman League's Associate Members Trophy, despite a wonder goal in a dramatic tie at Culham Road last night.
After two hours of football had failed to separate the sides, it was young Jon Gardner's miss in a penalty shoot-out that led to Abingdon's exit.
The hosts fell behind after four minutes, when Hungerford defender Craig Angell headed home from a free kick given away by central defender Luke Beauchamp.
Hungerford keeper Ross Gibbard twice denied Abingdon, before they equalised through Jason Thomas on the stroke of half-time.
On the hour, Abingdon took the lead with one of the most stunning goals seen at the ground for many years a classic volley executed to perfection by Ben Williams from all of 30 yards, which flew into the top corner.
Hungerford equalised in the 74th minute when Mildenhall forced the ball home from close range. Extra time failed to produce any further goals and the tie was decided on penalties.
