Guitar music is back. That's official. There's a new generation of exciting bands trailblazing across the country and making inroads into the stale, teen dominated, charts, writes Pookie Hudson.
Bands such as Birmingham's King Adora. Barely a year old in real terms, the glitter-coated nu-glam outfit are a breath of fresh air bringing glamour, attitude and electrifying live shows back in fashion. They release their third single, Smoulder already playlisted on Radio One on Monday.
King Adora revisit Oxford on October 29 when they open a mouthwateringly irresistible triple-bill at Brookes Uni, lining-up alongside My Vitriol and Mansun. Prior to this, they play a Radio 1 Sound City gig in Cardiff and are currently touring with My Vitriol and former Shifty Disco act, Crackout. Flamboyant frontman, Matt Browne, said: "We've had a couple of weeks off, recording, writing new songs and doing the video for the new single.
"We can't wait to get back out there. It's all going swimmingly, fantastic in fact even better than good. Our debut album should be out in the spring, we're back in the studio straight after the tour." King Adora made their festival debut at the Carling Weekender this year. "Leeds was good, but it's not Reading not quite the same sense of occasion. Reading was fantastic, it was pretty special for us. The fans, our performance, just everything about it.
"Most of this year has been a bit of a blur, we've been having a great time."
King Adora are one of the bands that make you remember why live music is such an important part of life. Be prepared to fall in love with a band again.
