A campaign to boost waste recycling, backed by Cherwell District Council and local traders, saw shoppers being encouraged to buy reprocessed items.
Retailers were asked to stock recycled goods and support the campaign with leaflets, posters, and displays.
A Wild Waste bus containing information on recycling toured the area to publicise the council's third annual 'save waste' project.
Vice-chairman of CDC's environmental committee, Cllr Rose Stratford, said: "Recycling reduces the amount of waste going to landfill sites.
"Buying recycled goods stimulates the market for re-used materials and helps offset the costs of collecting."
