Oxford United today announced that Joe Kinnear is coming in to be a consultant at the club. United chairman Firoz Kassam also revealed that Birse are to take over completing the new stadium at Minchery Farm.
The former Wimbledon manager was unable to be at a special press conference at the Manor Ground today because he was out of the country on holiday.
But he is due to take up his new post on Monday.
Meanwhile, a deal with Barr Construction was not concluded and Birse have stepped in, signing a contract to complete the building work at a cost of 15m. The agreement with them will be for the stadium to be complete and ready for the 2001-2002 season.
