JT/Fox Oxford Cheetahs bring the curtain down on their 2000 Elite League campaign with yet another encounter against Poole Pirates at the Stadium tonight (7.30pm), writes John Gaisford.

It will be the third meeting between the sides in a week following their Craven Shield clashes which ended with a win each.

Cheetahs came out on top 46-44 on Friday, and the Pirates gained revenge on Wednesday, 47-43.

So, it all points to another cliff-hanger tonight as there is obviously not a lot between the sides.

However, that man Mark Loram is carrying his world champion mantle well with two 15 point scores against Cheetahs and, if Scott Nicholls repeats his form of last Friday, it could well be another last-heat decider.

It would be nice if the Oxford team came together as one for the season's finale and at last topped 50 points at Sandy Lane this season.

The crowd is expected to be boosted with all accompanied kids being allowed in free, and after promoter Steve Purchase's announcement that Cheetahs will be running in the Elite League next season.

Meanwhile, Oxford must now beat Eastbourne on their own patch on Sunday and handsomely if they are to overhaul Poole at the top of their Craven Shield group.
