Oxford United adviser Denis Smith has confirmed a step-up in the search for new players as fans wait with interest to see what role consultant Joe Kinnear takes up at the Manor Ground next week.
"An offer has gone in for a player and I'm waiting for a phone call back about getting another player on loan," Smith said.
"The one we've got an offer in for has been on-going for a number of weeks, but we hadn't been able to do anything until we knew what was happening yesterday."
Chairman Firoz Kassam told a press conference that 52-year-old Kinnear, the former Wimbledon boss who stopped work as Dons manager following a minor heart attack, would be joining United as a consultant as from Monday.
