Thame Utd 1, Boreham Wood 0
Mark West's 17th goal of the season took Thame United's winning streak in Ryman League Division 1 to 12 consecutive games in their top-of-the-table clash against Boreham Wood at Windmill Stadium on Saturday.
Played in front of a bumper crowd of almost 500, the opening stages of this high quality game were even.
Home keeper Ian Moores was then called on to produce a superb save, finger-tipping over a fierce volley from Warren Bayliss.
Moores again saved well from the resulting corner when the ball fell to Andre Delisser, and minutes later the Thame keeper denied Bayliss again with a good save low to his left.
At the other end, Nando Perna latched on to a poor back pass only to see his effort fizz wide of the far post. But what was to prove the decisive goal arrived in the 28th minute when Jefferson Louis held off two challenges before delivering a cross for the deadly West to head past the stranded Noel Imber.
Perna had an opportunity to extend the lead early in the second half, but Imber saved well.
Thame were being forced to defend by a lively visitors' attack, but Dave Tregurtha, Martin Brown and Mark Avery were in majestic form.
Louis had a golden chance to increase Thame's lead, but after outpacing the defence, he shot weakly straight at the keeper.
Moores was again in action to save from Delisser before Louis was again twice guilty of poor finishing.
In the final minutes, the visitors almost snatched a point when Bayliss headed wide with just Moores to beat.
Victory extended Thame's lead at the top to ten points.
