Banbury stretched their unbeaten run in the Dr Martens Eastern Division to six games last night after scoring four goals in the first hour.
They took the lead in the ninth minute when Garry Harrison headed the ball on for Matty Gooderick. He pushed a pass through to Jody McKay who beat the offside trap and beat the advancing 'keeper Craig Tucker .
Gooderick missed a good chance on the half-hour but made amends two minutes later when he ran on to Harrison's pass before coolly placing the ball over Tucker and into the net.
The third goal came in the 58th minute. McKay won the ball wide on the left and took it to the bye-line before cutting it back to Harrison, who drove an unstoppable narrow-angled shot home from 15 yards. Banbury made it 4-0 following a corner, which Ashford failed to clear, Andy Wallbridge firing home from eight yards.
Banbury rode their luck during the last half-hour, but good goalkeeping from Paul Beauchamp and goal-line clearances kept the sheet clean.
They should have added to their tally in the 85th minute when Frankie Dorrian hit the ball over the bar from inside the six-yard box.
