Joe Kinnear saw for himself how Oxford United desperately need some new blood as they lost 2-0 to promotion favourites Wigan at the Manor Ground last night.
And he promised to try to point chairman Firoz Kassam in the right direction to strengthen the team in a desperate bid to keep the U's in the second division.
Although United almost snatched something from the game, with Andy Linighan putting a free header wide seven minutes from time just before Andy Liddell sealed victory for the Latics, for much of the match United were outclassed.
Kinnear revealed he had been offered the job full-time by Kassam, but he would not be rushed into making a decision. He will watch the team again, with the United chairman, at Reading on Saturday, before making any judgements.
