World Superbike Champion Colin Edwards, also known as the 'Texas Tornado', rode in to Abingdon on Thursday, writes Simon Nix.
He visited the town's Honda motorcycle dealer to present a Honda VTR 1000SP-1 the same type of bike he rides in the world championships to Abingdon Motorcycle customer Mr Doug Ketterwel.
Mr Ketterwel won the superbike in a joint Castrol and Honda UK Riders Club promotion.
Also part of the prize was a trip to the World Superbike round at Assen in Holland next year and an opportunity to meet the Castrol Honda Team and its riders, Colin Edwards and New Zealander Aaron Slight.
When customers at Abingdon Motorcycles had their motorbike serviced or purchased 4 litres of either Castrol R4 Superbike and Castrol GPS products they were given an extra 1 litre of product free and were also entered into the competition.
The tricky bit was that all participants had to compile a slogan.
Mr Ketterwel came up with the winning phrase "I use Castrol R4 Superbike because it gives the thrust of a 'Tornado' without the 'Slight'est worry".
The world champion is now relaxing after scooping his title at Brands Hatch in the last round of the series. On a drying track he set the fastest lap in the first race and went on to win the second to underline his dominance on the World Superbike stage.
