Reports in The Sun newspaper that cable company ntl were about to agree a 3m deal to televise Elite and Premier League speedway remain unconfirmed.
In fact, when I contacted Oxford promoter Steve Purchase about it, he said he was in the dark.
The report said that ntl, who had just pulled out of a pay-per-view deal with football's Premiership, were keen to add to their sports portfolio and saw speedway as an important addition.
It would be a godsend for speedway if it turned out to be true, but as yet, there is no official confirmation. But I gather there is plenty of work going on behind the scenes to attract a major sponsor for speedway next season.
