Although London-based, Remote Control are not the sort of act who hang out in Camden playing the odd gig or two and waiting for something to happen. Quite the opposite in fact, writes Pookie Hudson.

Barely a year old, Remote Control's third single, the epic Electric Kind, which blends art-rock chic with glam riffs, punk ideals with loops and samples, is already a huge favourite with London's XFM Radio. Remote Control are a hard-working act, spreading their glam gospel to disaffected kids, bored with the endless stream of bland guitar acts and packaged pop abominations.

Remote Control's singer Ben John observed: "People go to gigs for entertainment. It's about escapism, they want to dress like superstars for the night, living out that rock 'n' roll fantasy.

"We're the same, but we've picked up instruments as well. The way we see it, it's an opportunity to change people's lives. Music should be about having a good time.

"And we also follow that old rock 'n' roll adage that to sell records you've got to play live," Ben added.

So head on down to The Kooler at The Bullingdon tonight for a truly glam-tastic experience.
