Complete Music Challenge Cup: Wantage Tn 0, Abingdon Utd 4 - match report
Mark Simms kept his feet to score a hat-trick while others slipped and slithered around him as Abingdon convincingly beat their near neighbours.
Neil Bridges brought a full-length save from Abingdon keeper Simon Tricker in the fifth minute but once Jimmy Smith guided home a left-wing cross, it was Abingdon who were in control.
They took full advantage of conditions in the second half with Simms scoring in the 67th minute after Paul Belcher had saved an initial shot from Adam Cann.
A cruel penalty award against Town's Dwaine Quinn in the mudbath conditions, gave Simms his second, and saw the dismissal of Wantage's Ben Spiero for dissent.
Simms grabbed his hat-trick five minutes from time with a fine left-foot shot.
