A ten-year-old schoolgirl will mark her family's long links with an Oxford college by giving a royal welcome to the Queen next week.
Melissa Worrell will present a posy when the Queen visits Oriel College on November 8 to open a purpose-built student accommodation block.
Melissa is a member of the Berry family, which has given more than 110 years' service to the college across four generations.
Three generations of the family will be on hand to greet the royal guest. Sybil Berry (kitchen clerk, 42 years) will be joined by her husband Den (member of hall staff, 11 years), daughter Linda (cleaning staff, 25 years) and granddaughter Rachel (cleaning staff, four years).
At the new Rectory Road building the Queen will visit one of the 67 rooms and meet students in a communal kitchen. She will then unveil commemorative plaques during a lavish marquee reception.
After a walkabout in Oriel Square, the Queen will meet members of the Oxford University Officer Training Corps at their new home in Falklands House, in Oxpens Road. She will open the 2.6m building, which provides training and social facilities for officer cadets from the university's Royal Navy, Army and RAF units.
While visiting the centre, she will be treated to a demonstration of cadet activities before unveiling a plaque.
