Rain, wind and mud failed to stop thousands of revellers turning out to support Oxford's biggest fireworks display.
The Saturday event organised by Oxford Round Table was threatened with a disastrous turnout as heavy rains and gale force winds descended on the city during the day.
Muddy conditions at South Park prevented articulated lorries bringing on equipment for the Fox FM roadshow which had to be cancelled.
But by 5pm the clouds broke and about 5,000 turned out.
About 2,500 was raised for charities across the city - usually the figure is about 10,000.
Round Table fireworks co-ordinator Trevor Hall said: "We were disappointed with the weather, but we are absolutely delighted that we still did not make a loss and were able to put on a show.
"I was very surprised and very grateful for the people of Oxford for turning out.
"It was a quagmire of mud but most people seemed to be prepared."
