Tim Newton's brace of goals failed to hide Oxford Hawks' disappointment as they only came away with a 2-2 draw from their English League Division 2 game against Bromley.
In a tight first half, Hawks had the best of the play and should have gone ahead, but captain Ed Baldock shot wide of the post.
After the break, the Kent side had the chance to score first when Nick Styles was adjudged to have fouled in the D and a penalty stroke was awarded. But keeper Chris Boyle comfortably saved the weak shot.
It was Hawks, however, who broke the deadlock in the second half when Newton ran determinedly down the right bye-line and, riding several stern challenges, forced the ball home.
But Hawks managed to concede an equaliser within 25 seconds of the restart. Bromley attacked down the right and a bouncing ball into the D evaded two Hawks sticks, before falling neatly forBuett to dispatch easily.
Ten minutes later, things became worse for Hawks when Bromley again penetrated the Hawks D too easily and Johnson scored their second.
The Oxford side dug deep and got their reward when Newton scored his second.
