Oxford Hawks Ladies gave Southampton a fright before going down 2-1 in their Women's Cup second round tie on the south coast.
The home team, who play two divisions higher than Hawks, scored from open play to lead at half-time .
Hawks came out strongly in the second half and both Hannah Williamson and Kelly Aldridge fired in good shots without finding the net.
Against the run of play Southampton scored from a short corner to go two up and although Jacqui Barlow pulled one back from a short corner, Hawks couldn't find another.
Hawks' league match against Marlow on Saturday was postponed because of a waterlogged pitch.
