Legendary All Blacks forward Zinzan Brooke and former Scottish international centre Scott Hastings are set to turn out for Major Stanley's XV in their prestige game against Oxford University at Iffley Road on Wednesday, November 15, writes Michael Knox.
The match has suffered from lack of star quality in the recent years since the introduction of fully fledged professional rugby.
However, Hastings, who is still playing for Watsonians, where he is director of rugby, has promised that he will be turning out.
Brooke, who is on the coaching staff at NEC Harlequins, where he turns out for the second team, is doing his level best to play.
There is also a chance that former Scotland fly half Craig Chalmers and Wales prop Peter Rogers will turn out for what should be an entertaining game.
OXFORD University's scheduled match against US Eagles on November 10, will not now take place after the tourists failed to gain permission for the game from their hosts, the Wales RFU.
Instead, the Dark Blues have arranged a match at home to NEC Harlequins next Tuesday (November 7) at 7.15pm.
