Schools and colleges in Oxfordshire are being offered the chance to build their own Web sites for free with CommuniGate, a new Internet initiative from Newsquest digital media.
Although many schools are already online, most school Web sites require specialist HTML knowledge to maintain which can exclude pupils and less computer literate teachers from actively participating in the school site.
With CommuniGate, all you need is an online PC and it only takes a few minutes to put information live on the Web. The instructions for building and editing the site, adding pictures, updating the events diary and creating a reader poll are easy to follow, so teachers and pupils can get actively involved themselves.
Even if your school already has a Web site, you can include a link to it from your CommuniGate home page and your free link and listing will help Oxfordshire community members access your Web pages quickly.
