Oxfordshire juniors made an excellent start to their Midland League Division 2 campaign with an 8-2 victory away to last year's runners-up Gloucestershire.
With the score at 2-2, Greg Boone combined with his Forum teammate Sam Harrison to win a very crucial doubles 21-17 in the third.
Oxon then took a grip on the match to run out convincing winners.
Boone was in top form to win all his three singles in straight games with good support from Harrison and Stewart Hamilton (St James), who notched two apiece.
Oxon will be looking for a repeat show when they take on Wiltshire at Kidlington Forum Youth Centre on Saturday (2.30pm).
Oxford Veterans got their Midland League programme off to a flying start with a 7-3 victory over Leicester A at Kidlington Forum.
Nigel Taylor, Mark Buckland, who stepped in for the stricken Tony Wheeler, and Ian Arnold won two singles apiece, and Taylor and Arnold teamed up to win the doubles.
The new Oxford Development League started on Monday with an entry of nine teams in the inaugural competition.
Fixtures will be scheduled as in the main league, and with a break of three weeks over the Christmas period. The programme will finish during the week starting March 19.
Teams entered are Forum I, Forum J, Forum K, Forum L, Forum M, St James D, St James E, Holton C and Holton D and matches will be played on a two-a-side basis.
Any players wishing to take part in this competition should contact Aubrey Hughes, 39 Sterling Road, Kidlington, or any committee member.
