Former England No 1 Julie Bradbury from Drayton swept through the field of 24 to win the women's singles at the 34th annual Oxfordshire Open Championships, writes Dick Hashman.
Unseeded because of a lack of match action, following the birth of her second child, Bradbury was the class act in this satellite tournament, romping to an 11-1, 11-0 triumph over Kent's Joanna Dix.
She dropped only 17 points in four rounds to take the 40 first prize.
Alan Clarkson, from Cheshire, lived up to his top seeding by taking the 80 men's singles prize with a 15-10, 15-9 win over Simon Hardcastle (Essex).
Oxford University occupy top spot after the opening round in Division 1 of the Five Disciplines League, hosted by Harrier Feathers at Drayton School in Banbury.
Current order: University 150, Gosford Hill A 139, Redefield A 117, Harrier Feathers A 103, Radley and Oxford 94, Wantage 79, Abingdon A 78, Demag A 42.
The Five Disciplines Division 3 opener took place in Abingdon with Evenlode B as hosts.
Current order: Evenlode B 150, Demag B 134, Redefield B 130, Abingdon C 93, Schools B 75, Abingdon D 64.
