An internet company is to mount a recruitment drive after agreeing to lease a new building at the expanding Oxford Science Park, writes Maggie Hartford.

Vistorm, a new Internet Application Service Provider, is to expand into the new Hinshelwood Building following a 25m investment from a consortium of venture capitalists led by 3i. The company, previously called E-Soft Global, moved on to the park last summer and now plans to market more of its Internet security products and managed applications systems in Benelux and France.

The science park, jointly owned by Magdalen College, Oxford, and Prudential, has recently been given permission to more than double in size. A day nursery is among the plans for the next phase, with building work scheduled to start in the spring.

Vistorm has agreed to take the speculatively-built 31,500 sq ft Hinshelwood Building, on a 20-year lease at 20 per sq ft. The building, which will be finished in November, is designed by architect Nicholas Hare.

Vistorm managing director Charles Sharland said: "When we first started to move into the South East of England, the Oxford area and specifically the Oxford Science Park fitted our needs perfectly.

"Today we are very happy to be extending our relationship with the science park. It is essential we have a location which supports our major recruitment drive and helps in the retention of high-quality staff."

The Hinshelwood Building named after Nobel prize-winning chemist and former Magdalen Fellow Sir Cyril Hinshelwood has views over a new lake and landscaping which forms part of the next phase of the science park.
