Worthing 2, Thame Utd 2
THAME had to be content with a draw despite controlling the second half of Saturday's FA Trophy first-round tie on a saturated Woodside Road pitch.
Despite being without leading scorer Mark West and influential midfielder Chris Fontaine, the visitors still dominated proceedings against their fellow Ryman League Division 1 opponents.
After early Worthing pressure, Thame created the game's first opening when Nando Perna gave striker Jefferson Louis an opportunity, but he blazed wide.
The home side broke the deadlock in the 31st minute. Spencer Mintram's corner found Damian Webber, who beat keeper Ian Moores at the near post.
Thame upped the tempo after the break and after a period of pressure got their reward in the 57th minute when Worthing failed to clear their lines.
Justin Lee's pin-point cross found Mark Avery in space, and he looped his header over the stranded Richard Waters in the home goal.
Thame continued to press and after hesitation in the Worthing defence, Louis stole the ball and went on to slam a drive past Waters in the 61st minute.
The visitors were well in control at this stage and it came as a surprise when they allowed Worthing to snatch a goal in the 78th minute through Ben Carrington to force a replay at Windmill Stadium tomorrow night.
