Jim Jukes and Claire Bywaters lifted the men's and ladies singles crowns at the Morrells Oxford and District Darts Association's Summer League finals at Rover Social Club when a large crowd where treated to a wonderful exhibition of darts.
Jukes (Jack Russell) became the new men's singles champion when he defeated previous winner Ollie Varney 2-1 in a top-quality final.
Jukes took the first leg and had a shot to win 2-0, but a splendid finish from Varney levelled the match before Jukes captured the last to seal his first ODDA singles title.
Bywaters (Shears) retained the title she won 12 months ago, when she defeated Sandra Cox (Red Lion, Chalgrove) 2-0.
It was the third time these two players have contested a ladies' singles final and Claire now leads 2-1.
The men's summer pairs title went to the Quarry Gate's Kit Young and Mark Batsford, who defeated teammates Steve Foster and Kevin Middleton in a top-quality final. The ladies' league pairs winners were Bywaters and Iris Doyle, who saw off the Cowley Community Centre duo Jo Gleed and Angie Turner.
The men's George Pegram Memorial Cup (seven-a-side) was won by the Quarry Gate A, who beat Mason's Arms 4-0 thanks to wins from Kevin Middleton (180), Mark Batsford, Steve Foster (180) and Joe Palmer.
The Shears made it a clean sweep of the women's competitions when they defeated New Club, Wheatley, 4-0 in the Margaret Davies Memorial Cup.
In a special contest, sponsored by Morrells, men's singles champion Jukes pipped ladies winner Bywaters, who started the match with a maximum 180.
Sponsors Morrells were so impressed with Claire's performance that they awarded her a special prize, the same as the winner.
Tonight sees the start of the 74th ODDA Winter League which will again be sponsored by Morrells.
Teams should note that all new players must be registered before they are allowed to play or risk losing points.
Teams in Men's Section 2 should note that Cowley Community Centre C have withdrawn, while in Men's Section 8, the Tree Hotel, Iffley, have filled the vacant position.
