Nurse Helena Jenkins achieved a personal best in the New York City Marathon to raise funds for disabled children, writes Rebecca Smith.
Ms Jenkins, 35, of Avocet Way, Bicester, finished the marathon on Sunday in four hours and 17 minutes.
In the process, she raised more than 1,300 for children's charity Get Kids Going that provides wheelchairs and other mobility equipment to disabled youngsters.
She said: "I really wanted to run to help disabled children and young people, especially those kids who can't walk never mind about run."
Ms Jenkins is a staff nurse at the Cardiac Recovery Unit at the John Radcliffe hospital and ran the London marathon in April.
