Abingdon maintained their 100 per cent record in Division 2 with a narrow 9-7 victory at home to Aldermaston.
The heavy conditions conspired against effective attacking moves and the boot of Abingdon flanker Xavier Lecocq became all important.
Lecocq's first penalty goal was the only score of the first half, and it was the best part of an hour later that he landed his second.
Aldermaston were awarded a controversial try, which they converted to take the lead.
Abingdon elected to take a scrum from the penalty, awarded them from the restart, and drove downfield. When Aldermaston offended, Lecocq won the game with his third penalty from 30 metres.
