Staff at car-parts firm Unipart turned their training session for a trek across the Sahara Desert this week into a giant pub crawl and raised 1,000, writes Sarah Parker.
Karen Johnson, from Unipart, said: "Forty of us are taking part in a sponsored walk across the Sahara in aid of Macmillan Cancer Relief. We needed to raise 1,800 each to fund the trip and thought a sponsored pub crawl would be fun."
Ed Bradbury, at The Old Bookbinders Ale House in Jericho, got the ball rolling and Morrells of Oxford backed the event.
Karen added: "At each pub we raised 100, with Morrells topping up the kitty to bring the total amount raised to 1,000."
