There was a cracking match in the Oxford & District League this week between reigning champions Oracle and last season's Division 2 champions New Club.
It resulted in a 3-0 win for Oracle, taking them back to the top of Division 1.
But it was a real nail-biter and could so easily have gone to New Club, as two of the wins were by a single point 150-149.
Lee Stopps (+70) gave Oracle the first game 150-149 against Andy Moss (+110) .
Jack Woods (+80) then won the match for Oracle, beating Justin Shepherd (+100) also 150-149. Ted Milsom (+90) defeated Harry Kidner (+90) 150-67.
Thame, who were top, returned to winning form, beating Newtrim, who were joint top, 3-0. Newtrim found the new cloth on the table difficult as Arthur Jones (+100) beat Norman Woodcock (+90) 150-133 to end Woodcock's winning sequence.
Ashton overtook Rileys by beating them 2-1, with Peter Fenn (+90) beating Roger Coenen (+70) 150-135, and Neil Brayshaw (+90) beating Charles Philips (+100) 150-116.
However, Warner Page (+100) won his fourth successive game for Rileys, beating Terry Chambers (-10) 200-178.
CCC A defeated HCC A 2-1 with John Simpson and Brian Mabutt successful.
Eynsham reign in Division 2 after beating Crown House 2-1.
