Buses look set to be moved outside the city centre so that crucial repairs can be made to Oxford's crumbling bus station, writes Roseena Parveen.
Paving at Gloucester Green is crumbling under the heavy weight and movement of buses and urgent repairs are needed.
Oxford City Council's Highways and traffic decided that the only realistic option was to move the buses to Oxpens while an estimated 90,000 worth of repairs are completed.
Damage caused by buses is threatening the roof of the underground car park and a complete resurfacing with more appropriate material - most likely asphalt - is planned.
The city highways committee yesterday rejected proposals to move the buses to St Giles because it feared that would create more traffic chaos in the area and disrupt car parking.
