The Morrells League Team KO Cup produced a cracking tie at the Watermans, where the home side's B team won their first leg clash 3-2 against South Oxford Club B, writes Pete Ewins.
Excellent play by man-of-the-match Paul Simmons, who scored 8,220 including a fine break of 5,300, Graham Moon (5,970) and Tony Williams (3,210) reeled off the first three games before the visitors clawed back the final two games through Martin Atkins (4,760) and Steve Huntley (5,730) to set up a perfect return leg.
Masons B look well set after winning 4-1 at home to Kidlington FC. Paul Cooper (9,560), Andy Gillett (1,540-1,280), Lisa Rose (3,230-1,940) and Andy Webb (2,480-1,510) were their winners, while Tim Jeffreys kept Kidlington's slender hopes alive with a victory against Phil Light (1,870-1,090).
Prince of Wales romped home to a 5-0 home leg victory over Isis thanks to Richard Garrett (6,230), Dave Davies (7,610), Jason Cattermole (4,240), Terry Green (4,360) and Mick Murphy (2,640).
In Group A, South Oxford Club A lost their home leg 3-2 to Democrats B, after leading 2-1 through Pete Smith (7,420- 3,430) and Jim Patey (3,810-1,610). A spirited comeback by Sandra Tebby, Billy Hill (7,450-3,630) and Sid Barrett (16,650, break 10,830) set themselves up nicely for their return leg.
Democrats A won 3-2 at home to high-flying Tandem. Robin Godfrey hit double figures by scoring 15,990, including a break of 10,600 for Demos, while Tandem's Ray Sturgess also hit top form with a brilliant 14,210 (break 9,600).
