Wantage Liberal Democrats have backed an on-line campaign aimed at scrapping tuition fees.
The party's Prospective Parliamentary Candidate for Wantage, Neil Fawcett, welcomed the launch of a new electronic petition this week.
The www.ScrapTuitionFees.com site was launched by the Liberal Democrat Youth and Students group and already has caught the imagination of campaigners.
Mr Fawcett, a former Student Union President, has added his name to the on-line petition. He said: "The site is already generating a lot of interest, with another person signing the on-line petition every couple of minutes."
"University education is crucial to the economic development of the UK, and if young people are being put off by the prospect of paying tuition fees, it is up to the Government to do something about it."
