The Morrells Oxford Sunday League and Sam Waters Cup programme was badly hit by the recent weather and Oxford City Council's decision to call off all games on their pitches over the weekend.
League spokesman Geioff Bower said: "The council's decision seemed somewhat premature as both Friday and Saturday were fine, dry days leaving a vast majority of the pitches playable on Sunday.
"The main problem is that the pitches are marked out on Thursday and, because of the rain on that day, they could not complete the task, hence the decision."
