The Battle of Britain is remembered in a series of paperbacks by Cassell including this panoramic portrait of the defence of the skies over southern England, backed by splendid vintage photos. The Hardest Day (5.99), by Alfred Price, is a fast-moving account of the dogfights that sustained the greatest losses on a single day in the battle. These books are complemented by Richard Collier's Eagle Day (5.99) emphasising the pilots' gallantry during the whole air campaign, The Battle of Britain (6.99), by John Ray, describing the role played by Dowding and his Fighter Command, and Reach for the Sky (6.99) by Paul Brickell, another re-issued classic that tells the story of legendary hero Douglas Bader.
