Nick Obolensky scored a hat-trick of tries as rejuvenated Oxford recorded a convincing 56-0 win over Division 1's bottom club, Berkshire Shire Hall, in appalling weather conditions.

Oxford led 22-0 at the break with tries from centre Obolensky, Dave Ralson, David Engwell and Mark Viner, one of which Ralson converted.

Viner added his second try after the break from a superb move.

Obolensky scored two more tries, while others came from Simon Bagnall, Tim Jones and Ralson, who added two more conversions.

Wallingford went down 11-7 at Chesham in a tight error-ridden game.

Chesham's opening score came from a pushover try, before centre Leon Bowd put Wallingford back on track with a try under the posts, which Henry Venners converted.

Chesham regained the lead with a penalty late in the half to go 8-7 ahead.

A second penalty for the home side proved to be the only score of the second period.

Wheatley went top of Division 2 with a 13-7 success in a scrappy game away to Gosford All Blacks.

The home side scored first with a converted try following a line-out, but two penalties by Andy Coldicott made it 7-6 at half-time.

The decisive score came early in the second half, when a mix-up in the Gosford defence allowed Wheatley full back Leigh Hedges to pounce and score.

Abingdon maintained their 100 per cent record with an 8-0 victory at Harwell.

The torrential rain and high winds caused problems for both sides.

Abingdon's only try came through the individual skills of flanker Martin Davies, who took a quick tap penalty close to the line and dived under the covering tackles.

The visitors did deserve more points for their attacking intentions, but the only further joy came from Xavier Lecocq landing a penalty with the last kick of the game.

Littlemore's bad run continued with their fourth consecutive loss as they went down 20-5 at Thatcham.

Henley Wanderers' hopes of promotion from Division 2 have suffered a double blow.

Firstly, they were deducted two points for fielding Duncan Scroggs, who was registered with Wallingford, in the 78-13 win over Harwell on September 30.

Then, Wanderers suffered a shock 16-0 defeat at Aldermaston on Saturday.
