Young motocross riders from the Oxford area will be competing in the televised UK Supercross Championships at the National Exhibition Centre, Birmingham.
Bradley Smith, aged ten, from Garsington, will race in the 65cc class and Justin Himpson and Liam Lyons, both 15 and from Sutton Courtenay, will race against each other in the 125cc class.
Supercross is a faster, tighter spectator-oriented version of motocross. The organisers of the event next weekend are shipping in 3,000 tonnes of earth to transform the NEC into an indoor race track where riders race over 10ft high obstacles and overtake each other up to 30ft in the air.
Hundreds of riders, including the UK's top professionals, will compete in two classes riding 125cc and 250cc machines and in four Aiwa Youth classes riding 65cc and 125cc machines.
**Tickets for the event are available by calling 08700 78 48 78, priced 19 or 15 for senior citizens or children aged under ten. Racing starts at 7pm on Saturday and 1pm on Sunday
**The Supercross television series will be screened in a series of eight half-hour programmes on Channel 4 starting on January 6.
