White Horse Harriers' men maintained their excellent start to the cross country season, following last week's Oxford Mail League win, with an equally emphatic victory in Sunday's Wessex League meeting in Weymouth.
Four of the Harriers' seven athletes finished in the top ten individual placings, Peter Wilson storming to victory in a time of 26 mins 34 secs to add to his win in the opening Oxford Mail meeting.
The runner-up, 12 seconds back, was debutant Harrier Kevin Sheppard, while Gavin Felton was fifth in 27.38.
**Organisers of the Information Press 10K 2000, run by Eynsham Roadrunners, already have more than 400 entries and they expect to reach the limit of 600 by the closing date of November 22.
This is an increase of more than ten per cent over the best year, 1999, at this time.
They are therefore asking any local runners who have not yet entered, to do so in the next few days to avoid disappointment because the entries will close on November 22 or when the limit is reached.
Entry forms are now available from P Whitlock, 32 Witney Road, Eynsham, Witney, Oxon, OX8 1PQ (tel 01865 880368). Please include an SAE.
**Hilary O'Shea, of Abingdon Amblers, ran the Chipping Sodbury Slog 9-mile multi-terrain race on Sunday.
Running through mud and water for almost the entire race, O'Shea completed the course in 1hr 39 mins 30 secs to finish second lady over 50.
