Internet games channel Hi2 has sold a multi-million pound stake in the company to the Durlacher Corporation.
The deal means that Harwell-based Hi2 can bring forward plans to expand its niche in the international network gaming market, expected to grow to more than $8bn (5.7bn) in the next five years.
Hi2 plans to expand into interactive TV and mobile phones and the Durlacher Corporation has experience of games industry research and consulting.
Durlacher games analyst Nick Gibson said: "We believe Hi2 has a visionary business model and market-leading technology. We are delighted to help the company realise its considerable potential.
"The games landscape is changing rapidly. The industry does not have to rely on retailed boxed products any more. The emergence of digital networks widens the horizons."
Hi2 technical director David Wainright said: "This investment will enable us to place the Games Channel firmly on the international gaming market and accelerate the planned expansion of the company. We are delighted to be able to bring Durlacher on board."
