Richard's Bicycle Book the cyclist's 'bible' was first published in 1972 and inspired millions of cyclists to get out and ride, and to attempt their own simple repairs. Despite its glossy pictures, this revised and updated version is a bit thin on practical instructions for repairs, so even if your original copy is covered with oil stains, hang on to it. The new edition is, however, an idea present for a new cyclist, as it deals with choosing the right bike for commuting or competing, reliability, performance and comfort. Ballantine also includes the latest inventions in cycle design, from suspension systems and disc brakes to compact lightweight folders and aerodynamic superbikes. There is also an interesting section on careers in cycling.
