An Oxford city centre pub is to feature on Japanese TV
The Grapes, in George Street was selected as "a typical English pub" by the producers of a tourist documentary which will be shown to around two million viewers in the Far East.
Interpreter Yoshiko Cowell said: "The Grapes is a very old pub and so was ideal for our purposes. We interviewed the bar staff about the different beers available and also filmed the chef preparing a traditional ploughman's lunch."
The pub is owned by Morrells of Oxford. Area manager Liam Fallon said: "We were delighted that out of all the pubs in Oxford the producers picked The Grapes. Situated where we are, we get a lot of tourist trade and hopefully once the documentary has been screened we'll receive even more."
