Oxford United's Jamaican signing has been put on hold for a week - but the revitalised second division club are set to get a Norwegian midfielder later today.
Director of football Joe Kinnear was preparing to pick up midfielder Tom Hammerborg, who has played in the Norwegian Premier League for Starts and Moss and is now available on a free under the Bosman ruling.
He will train with United for a week to give Kinnear and manager Dave Kemp time to assess whether he could be a significant asset to the club.
Kinnear said last night: "The Jamaican played for his country last week but he has had flu, so wasn't able to come over. He should now be coming over this Sunday.
"But I'm picking up a player from Norway, who is under contract and available on a Bosman. He's mainly a right-sided midfielder who is very quick, but he can play right across midfield."
