A new exhibition offers visitors the chance to see the best professional local craftsmen and women in the county.

Around 32 artists, ranging from potters to glassblowers, pewtersmiths to woodturners, dressmakers to silkprinters, will be displaying their wares at the Oxfordshire Craft Guild Christmas exhibition.

The event, at the Oxfordshire Museum in Woodstock, is one of three annual shows put on by the guild to let the public view and buy the original works, all under one roof, and admission is free.

Organiser Jane Hanson, a potter from Waterstock, whose work is also being exhibited, said: "Everyone here has been specially selected to become members of the guild. All of their work is top quality and amongst the best in the country."

Janine Makosch, a dressmaker, said: "This exhibition allows people to see craft in the real sense of the word, and not as a fuddy-duddy entity. It is certainly alive in Oxfordshire."

The exhibition is on now and lasts for a month at the Oxfordshire Museum in Park Street, Woodstock. The show will be open from Tuesday to Saturday at 10am-4.45pm and on Sunday at 2pm-4.45pm.
