**Angler Gerald Stratford had a good haul of bream from the Mill Stream, near Oxford without using a rod and reel.
The landscape gardener was walking along a lane leading to Yarnton Meadow, following the recent floods, when his dog spotted something moving in a water-filled tractor rut.
Gerald, from Cassington, near Witney, said: "The ruts were about 20 yards long and a foot wide and were filled with about a foot of flood water.
"When I looked I could see there were fish trapped in them, so I flipped them out one by one and carried each of them 50 yards to return them to the mill stream.
"There were eight bream from about 3lb to 6lb and one or two smaller fish. I got absolutely soaked."
