Phil put drum kit players through their paces during the day-long skills workshop with the Orchestra of St John's principal percussionist Cameron Sinclair and principal timpanist Chris Nall.
At the end of yesterday's session at Oxford School in Glanville Road, Mr Selway, who lives in the county, said: "It went really well. We had the kids' workshops in the morning and taught them two patterns to incorporate in the bigger piece."
Young drummer Daniel Keeley, 12, of Croft Road, Thame, said: "It's been good and I've learned a lot."
