Banbury came from behind to see off Henley Wanderers in convincing style.

Following the postponement of Henley Hawks National Division 1 match against Moseley in the morning, prop Rob Heginbottom came in to captain the Wanderers.

And their hopes must have been high when they took a surprise lead. A miss-move by the Bulls' backs went horribly wrong, and Henley centre McAllister scored under the posts for full back Chris Ward to convert.

Two minutes later, Banbury levelled the score when winger James Taylor outpaced the defence for a try which scrum half Tony Hurst converted.

Wanderers soon regained the lead when Ward banged over a penalty, but a second try by Taylor, followed by another from flanker Will Brooks, put Banbury 17-10 up at half-time.

With the breeze now in their favour, the Bulls took command.

Lock Dave Phipps scored two tries, the second of which involved a run from halfway, and further tries followed from Hurst, winger Chris Fellows and centre Graeme Cartmell. Prop Henk Gattingh, having taken over the place-kicking duties, added two more conversions.
