Chinnor saw off one of their promotion rivals in style with a convincing 34-6 victory at Amersham & Chiltern.
But their celebrations were tempered by a dislocated shoulder injury for skipper James Davies, who could miss much of the title run-in.
The home side's decision to play first into the wind and rain rebounded on them as Chinnor built up a 20-0 half-time lead.
Two penalties by Conor Begley were followed by close-range tries by half-backs Ben Thompson and John Vaughan, both of which Begley conver- ted.
Two penalties by Chiltern's Dave Richardson reduced the arrears. But Begley then converted his own try and then took his tally to 19 points by adding the conversion to fly-half Thompson's second try.
With only six league games remaining, Witney's brief foray in this division looks almost over following their 20-7 defeat at home to Tadley.
All the points came in the first half, when Witney were facing the rain and wind.
Francis Grant, returning at fly half, scored Witney's try when he chased his chip kick and gathered the ball to score under the posts, before adding the conversion.
This put Witney 7-5 ahead, but Tadley came back strongly with two more tries, one converted, and a penalty.
